  • 2000 Accounting Educator Award from the Tennessee Society of CPAs, in recognition of significant contributions to accounting education in Tennessee (given to professors with less than 20 years of full-time teaching experience).
  • 1993-1994 Member of the Year for the Institute of Internal Auditors – Nashville Chapter, for outstanding achievement and service
  • 1991 Outstanding Doctoral Teaching Assistant in the J.M. Tull School of Accounting at the University of Georgia .

Spiritual & Community Activities:

  • My wife and I attend Brentwood Hills Church of Christ in Nashville where I serve as a deacon. We serve as co-coordinators of the Faith Builders Class. I serve on the Missions team, functioning as controller for missions and coordinating requests for financial assistance for various mission trips. Treasurer, Christian Campus Ministries
