Nashville, TN – Arthritis is the nation’s leading cause of disability. In Tennessee alone, more than 1.2 million adults and nearly 6,000 children have a doctor-diagnosed form of arthritis. On Friday November 30th, Lipscomb University held it’s first annual event, “Jingle in your Jammies”, a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation

The event began at 5:30 Friday afternoon in McQuiddy Gym with pre-registration, milk and cookies, pictures with Santa, health screenings provided by the College of Pharmacy. The basketball game proved exciting with Lipscomb defeating Tennessee Tech 80-64. After the game, the one-mile walk began. From young to old, participants walked the six laps around Allen Arena in their favorite pajamas while the enthusiasm of the Lipscomb University cheerleaders standing along the corridors cheered them on. To end the evening, the movie “Elf” was played in Allen Arena.

This event was designed to promote the Arthritis Foundation’s annual 5K “Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis” held in Franklin, TN on Saturday December 1st. This is a national event where thousands of runners and walkers come together to fight arthritis.

A special thank you to the Arthritis Foundation, Lipscomb Athletics, and Lipscomb’s College of Pharmacy and College of Business for making this event so great.
