Amy Hamar, Director of Senior Alumni Programs & Lifelong Learning

Amy Hamar ('82), a "Lipscomb Lifer," attended Lipscomb from Kindergarten through college. In 1996, Hamar returned to her alma mater to work in the University Relations Office. In that office, she served as the administrative assistant to the vice president for university relations.

At the beginning of 2005, Amy joined the Office of Alumni Relations to coordinate and manage alumni outreach programs. In 2011, she moved into her current position where her areas of concentration are Lifelong Learning, Summer Hostel, Golden Circle, reunion dinners, travel learning and other programs geared toward senior alumni.

Rhonda Minton, Director of Alumni Programs

Rhonda Minton serves as Director of Alumni Programs and is responsible for developing programs and events that enhance connectivity with the university's more than 37,000 alumni worldwide.

Rhonda joined the Lipscomb University staff in July 2010 as associate director of annual giving/direct response, and was promoted to Director of Alumni Programs in December 2011. She brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education to Lipscomb's Office of Development & Alumni Relations (DAR). Programs currently under Rhonda's leadership include Lipscomb LIVE, alumni awards, regional receptions and networking events, Graduates of the Last Decade Network, the Bison Network Card, legacy events, alumni communications and Herdcoming, among others. She also serves as co-advisor of the Student Alumni Philanthropy Council.

Rhonda came to Lipscomb after working in the alumni association and public affairs departments at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where her duties involved alumni membership and marketing outreach, alumni relations programming, media relations and legislative affairs. She also taught design in the university's communication department and served as an instructor in the SFA 101 Freshman Success program. She has received more than 15 awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for excellence in alumni relations programming, marketing and communication and has presented sessions for CASE conferences and other professional alumni organizations. In February 2013, Rhonda received "Stellar Speaker" designation from the CASE District 3 Conference in Atlanta, Ga.

Rhonda holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in communication and history from SFA. Prior to joining the SFA staff, she served as deputy director of public relations for a memorial foundation in Washington, D.C.

Rhonda also serves on the advisory board for The Veranda at College Heights, a respite program for families affected by Alzheimer's Disease, dementia or other debilitating medical issues, located in Gallatin, Tenn.

Laura Tywater, Program Assistant for Senior Alumni Programs & Lifelong Learning

Laura Tywater graduated (’89) from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication and a marketing minor.

After graduation she worked as a development coordinator in the Nashville office of the American Heart Association (AHA) before moving to the AHA’s Chattanooga office to become a field director in fundraising and public education.

Laura decided to take off for 17 years to raise three children, Chloe, Carson and Houston, before returning to the workforce at Lipscomb University in 2009. She started work in Development and Alumni Relations at Lipscomb University and presently is working as the program assistant for Lifelong Learning and Senior Alumni Programs.

Laura Sears ('92), Director, Associated Women for Lipscomb

Laura Sears joined our staff in 2008 and is a 1992 graduate of Lipscomb University with a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and public relations. After serving as communications project manager for Corporate Family Solutions, Laura turned much of her attention to volunteer work while raising three young children.

She worked with the Associated Women for Lipscomb for more than 10 years as a volunteer, particularly with events such as galas, fashion shows and marketplace events. She served as vice president and president of the Nashville area chapter and has volunteered and chaired events for David Lipscomb Campus School, serving as co-president of the middle school Parent-Teacher Organization and an officer of the DLCS Booster Club.

Pat Price, Research Assistant

Pat Price is a 2003 graduate of Lipscomb University. He attended Lipscomb for 17 years, starting in kindergarten. Pat and his father, Scott, wrote a book entitled Looking For Goodwill. They visited every state in the United States and interviewed 106 people about the good things in their lives and communities. Pat volunteers at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and at Rains Avenue Christian Care Center.
