General Education Requirements 2012-2013

 

FOUNDATIONS (26 semester hours required)

  LU 1103 – Lipscomb Seminar (3)

  EN 1123 – English Composition (3)

 CO 1003 – Intro to Communication (CO 1003 or other approved course)[1] (3)

 Mathematics (3) (excludes non-credit, developmental coursework)

 Science with lab (3) (biological or physical science; LUMS 2003 (formerly SCI 1003) may satisfy this requirement)

 PE 2012 – Lifetime Wellness (for 1st year students in 2012-2013, two activity courses may satisfy this requirement)

Bible (9) (These three courses must be taken in sequence:  BI 1073 _____; BI 1083 _____; BI 1093 ______)

 

EXPLORATIONS (12 semester hours required) Students must satisfy the requirement by taking at least one course in each of the four areas.  At least 6 hours must be fulfilled by integrated coursework.) 

                        LUMS 2xn3 – Integrated Mathematics and Science (or other approved course)[2] (3)

LULT 2xn3 – Integrated Literature (or other approved course)[3] (3)                                           

LUHI 2xn3 – Integrated History (or other approved course  [4] (3)            

 LUSS 2xn3 – Integrated Social Sciences (or other approved course)[5] (3)                                

 

 NOTE: The explorations coursework may be satisfied by a Lipscomb semester-long global learning experience.  Other global learning experiences may satisfy a general education requirement, depending on the nature and context of the experience.

 

Engagements  (3 semester hours) 

  LUEG 3xn3 –Multidisciplinary Integrated Course Counts as a required Bible (3)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (6 SEMESTER HOURS)

  One from BI 3213, BI 3433, or BI 4213

  One elective Bible course

 

SALT REQUIREMENT (0 SEMESTER HOURS, 2 SERVICE LEARNING EXPERIENCES)

 1 service learning experience at Tier I or higher

 1 service learning experience at Tier II or higher

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY (0 SEMESTER HOURS)

  Passed ITP test
