Tuition and Financial Aid

For Adult Degree Program (ADP) students at Lipscomb, tuition for the academic year 2012-2013 is $499.00 per semester hour (this is a reduction in tuition for ADP students only). Tuition charges do not have to be paid in full at the time of registration. A monthly payment plan can be arranged for you, or you may choose to charge your tuition.

If you must withdraw from a course before it is completed, you may be eligible for a certain amount of tuition refund. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal, so to be eligible for a refund, you must officially withdraw by written notice to the Registrar's Office. This involves a drop slip, which you can obtain from the Adult Degree Program Office (Ezell 265). Please do not  stop attending class without contacting someone in the Adult Degree Program. Always refer questions concerning student accounts to the Lipscomb University Business Office at 615-966-1778.

Financial Aid: Loans, Grants and Scholarships

First-time, degree-seeking students may apply for the same government-backed loan programs which are available to traditional-age students. To qualify for a loan, a student must carry six hours. To qualify for a merit or need-based scholarship, a student must carry nine hours. To qualify for a full Pell grant, a student must carry 12 hours. Both accelerated terms in fall and spring semesters count together for financial aid programs. You may also qualify for a scholarship if you transfer at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average. See below:

If a student is transferring into the Adult Degree Program with at least 24 hours of accumulated college credit and has at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, they may be awarded based on the following scale:

3.00 – 3.39 $1500 per year (½ Fall and ½ Spring)
3.40 – 3.69 $2000 per year (½ Fall and ½ Spring)
3.70 – 4.00 $2500 per year (½ Fall and ½ Spring)

A student must take at least nine hours (full-time for ADP) to receive any academic scholarship funds. If the nine hours are not reached until the second term, the academic scholarship will not apply to the student account until the second term.  If a student does not enter Lipscomb with an academic scholarship, then they can qualify for one after earning at least 24 hours of credit. Academic scholarships will be awarded according to the scale previously listed.

A student must take at least six hours per semester to receive a Federal Stafford Loan. A student must also file a FAFSA and fill out additional paperwork with the Financial Aid Office at Lipscomb to receive a Stafford Loan. The loan will be applied in the term in which six hours are taken.  To file a FAFSA, click HERE, and then click on “Steps to Apply.” Students may also find information and applications for Stafford Loans etc. under “Apply for a Loan.” There will be four items to complete if a student is a first-time borrower at Lipscomb. If a student has had a previous Stafford Loan, they will need to print the Stafford Loan application and the Disposition of Title IV Funds sheets. These are returned by mail or by fax (615-966-7640) to the Financial Aid Office. For information about  specific awards, contact Maggie Kersten in the Financial Aid Office via email at kerstenmg@lipscomb.edu.
