New Student Express Orientation

January 4, 2015

New Student Express, an abbreviated orientation program designed to meet the needs of new students, both freshmen and transfers, will take place on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2015. (While New Student Express is required for all new students, returning students and Adult Studies students are not required to attend.) Check-in for New Student Express will begin at noon (CST) in the Bennett Campus Center lobby (see schedule below). The program will begin at 12:15 p.m. in Shamblin Theatre. You’ll eat lunch with other new students and with members of the Quest Orientation Team. During dessert, you’ll hear brief presentations about the essential information you’ll need to maximize your transition to life at Lipscomb. All new freshmen (and any transfers who wish) will be matched with an upperclassman Orientation Assistant who will be a great resource for you during your first semester. It's college orientation—express style!

After the lunch session, if you haven’t registered for spring classes you will meet with an academic advisor and select your class schedule. Representatives from the Business Office and the Financial Aid Office will be available to assist and advise you. You can also order textbooks, and the Security Office will be open for you to have your ID made and pick up your parking sticker. You can expect to complete New Student Express by or before 5 p.m. Classes will begin the next day, on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Payment of the $35 fee (which covers your lunch and session materials) is required when you complete the registration form. The fee is waived for participants in our Yellow Ribbon Program and for other Veterans. Online registration will close at noon on Wednesday, December 31. Students who haven’t registered and paid for New Student Express by that deadline will register onsite at noon on Sunday, January 4 in the lobby of the Bennett Campus Center and will be assessed a $10 late processing fee.

You are welcome to bring your spouse or parents to New Student Express. While guests are not charged a registration fee, there is a $15 charge per guest meal ticket and meal reservations must be made no later than noon on Wednesday, December 31.
