The Lipscomb Academy boys golf team won the District 10 A-AA Tournament on September 16 with a team score of 299; the nearest competitor team shot a 333. Paul Swindell and Davis Armstrong both shot 74. Swindell won a playoff to earn second overall and Armstrong was third overall. Dawson Armstrong won the tournament with a 69 (-3). This accomplishment marks Dawson's third straight first place finish in the district tournament. The team has qualified for the region tournament to be played at Champions Run on September 23.
"I'm excited about the win but I'm focused on the next step," said Dawson Armstrong.
The girls golf team finished as district runner-up with a team score of 205. Maryalice Armstrong was 4th overall with a score of 89. Both Maryalice and Carley Mitchell qualified to play in the region tournament on September 23.
“I was proud of how our girls and boys teams performed under the pressure of the district tournament. But, I was more impressed with the way that they conducted themselves in a Christ-like manner in the midst of competition,” said Head Golf Coach Michael Mays.
