The Lipscomb Academy boys track team members ran, jumped and threw their way to the 2013 DI A-AA Track and Field State Runners-Up title.
The weeklong state championship track meet started with Jackson Powers and Ryan Lipe competing in the decathlon, where Jackson broke his own school
record with 6,099 points to be named 2013 TSSAA DI A-AA Decathlon State Champion. Ryan finished in sixth place in his first appearance at the state track meet.
"We had three seniors on this year’s team who qualified for the state meet after having outstanding seasons. In addition, we had some seniors who didn't qualify for the state meet, but provided leadership though the year that enabled several younger team members to excel throughout the year. I am proud of what this group accomplished,” said Head Boys Track Coach, Tim Taylor.
The track team earned 40 points in the meet overall to earn second place. Many members of the team competed very well in a variety of events to add points to the tally.
Corley Webb took sixth place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:14.20.
