The Lipscomb Academy Bowling Teams will advance to the TSSAA Region 5 Tournament on January 15 following a winning 2012-2013 performance.
Both teams, made up of experienced bowlers, have had high expectations placed upon them from day one. Led by three two-time state qualifiers, Hope Peach, Jesse Ragsdale and Ryan Lipe, the teams also boast some of the top averages in the district. Both teams qualified for the region tournament by virtue of placing second in the District 12 AA Tournament.
Three Lipscomb Academy bowlers, Hope Peach, Ryan Lipe (who had the top district average of 193) and Jesse Ragsdale also qualified individually for the state tournament. To qualify for the state tournament as an individual, a bowler must have one of the top four averages in the district for the entire season. Half of the girls state qualifiers from District 12 are from Lipscomb Academy.
“In my first year as a Mustang coach, I have been very proud of the team and their hard work and dedication propelling the team to the next level of play. I look forward to the rest of post-season play, coaching this team is a true blessing in life,” said Diana Benson, Lipscomb Academy Head Bowling Coach.
The teams are coached by Head Coach Diana Benson and Assistant Coach Ryan Colletti, who was once a Mustang Bowler himself. "I am blessed to be able to give back to a team that gave me so much in high school and to teach a sport that I've grown to love. Coach Benson and the athletes have worked hard to make this a good year, and I look forward to coming years," said Colletti.
The TSSAA Division 1 Region 5 Tournament will be held at Hermitage Lanes in Hermitage Tennessee on January 15. The girls team will play East Literature and the boys team will play Goodpasture, both games will begin at 3:30 in the afternoon.
