percent of high school students who take the Preliminary SAT nationwide annually. Rachel Ackerman and Chandler Montgomery have been chosen by virtue of high achievement on the PSAT in 2011.
Ackerman and Montgomery were named National Merit Semi-Finalists in September 2012. They went under further scrutiny and now have been named Finalists in the 2013 competition for National Merit Scholarships. As Finalists, Ackerman and Montgomery will be considered for the National Merit Scholarship, one of the highest academic honors available nationwide.
"A two time All State chorister, Chandler demonstrates that academic success does not have to mean one dimensional. As a successful musician, athlete, scholar and student leader, he delivers excellence in all facets of his activities," said Robert King, Director of Fine Arts.
“Rachel is a ‘dream’ of a student whose character, attitude, and intelligence shine in all that she does. Both faculty and peers are proud of her commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom. She will be a blessing to any campus she attends next year,” said Lipscomb Academy English Teacher, Sharon Tracey.
Ackerman and Montgomery have both been students at Lipscomb Academy since elementary school. Montgomery is a “Lipscomb Lifer,” a student who has been at the Academy since at least first grade.
