David Scobey, former president and CEO of AT&T Southeastern Region, was seated as chair of the Lipscomb University board of trustees in November 2012.
Scobey spent more than 30 years of his career at AT&T/BellSouth. In his career, Scobey developed a leadership reputation as a fix-it artist and is known for his team building, customer and front-line employee focus and people development. He began his career in the network engineering and operations side of the business and went on to work in product development, product management, marketing and sales – including federal government, national accounts and small business, change management, strategic management and general management.
Scobey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. In 2008, Scobey and his wife Debbie established a $100,000 endowed scholarship for nursing students at Lipscomb.
The Scobeys reside in Atlanta where David is an elder at the North Atlanta Church of Christ.
