Arizona (Navajo)
Summer 2013
|
The past few years, we have been hearing from more and more students who are interested in ministering to the Native American population. Due to this growing desire, a new trip will take place in May that serves and works alongside the Navajo nation in Arizona. A few hours from the Grand Canyon you will find the town of Kayenta, located within the Navajo nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States. This first-year team will partner with the Kayenta Church of Christ in sharing Christ and building community among the people in and around Kayenta. The team will be engaged in a variety of activities, from Bible studies, in the local schools and may also facilitate a day camp for children. During the week in Kayenta, Lipscomb will be partnering with Nashville based non-profit Healing Hands International to empower locals to build a community garden that will provide fresh fruits and vegetables for those living on the reservation. |
