Moldova
Summer 2013
|
The only all female trip at Lipscomb, this mission experience is designed to help women serve other women in one of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe, Moldova. Situated between the Ukraine and Romania, the Republic of Moldova is known for the amount of orphans and the epidemic of human trafficking within the country. Justice and Mercy International is an organization dedicated to changing lives by confronting global injustice. In Moldova, the organization partners with one of Moldova’s state orphanages. At age 16 vulnerable girls who have been abandoned by their families graduate out of the state orphanages and have nowhere to go. JMI has identified this increasing problem and has created Grace House. Grace House has been established to run as a transitional house for girls from ages 16-21. The house serves as a place of safety for vulnerable young women. While in Moldova, our team will be spending most of our time offering hope and service to the young women of Grace House. We will be offering the women a chance to have fun with American girls, as well humbling ourselves to lift them up by doing things like washing their feet and cooking them meals among many other things. We are committed to being a hope and encouragement for women who may have never experienced anything but darkness. |
