Volunteers are a vital part of the Alive Hospice team. They bring caring concern, comfort and compassion to patients and families. Volunteers can become sensitive to patients’ unique needs and are able to communicate those needs to Alive Hospice’s staff.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available, whether you have limited time to give or have a more flexible schedule. And, if you prefer, volunteer opportunities are available beyond working with patients and families. All volunteers help support the work and purpose of Alive Hospice, regardless of their specific duties.

The foundation helps individuals take control of arthritis by providing public health education; pursuing public policy and legislation; and conducting evidence-based programs to improve the quality of life for those living with arthritis.

Better Tomorrows Adult Education Center   Better Tomorrows Adult Education is an educational program that focuses on helping students build up their computer skills, practical living skills and job preparation/job search skills. It is amazing how lives were positively changed by learning things that many of us take for granted.

We opened our classroom doors at Ray of Hope in Autumn 2004, offering adult literacy, GED tutoring, life skills, job skills, and cultural learning opportunities. Since then, we have served over 200 adults with the help of hundreds of volunteers. We look forward to continuing this legacy of empowerment, and we ask that you join us.

Since 1969, we have been fulfilling our mission to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters make an annual commitment to help weekly in One-to-One Mentoring that serves children primarily from single parent families. We also utilize volunteers with many of our events held throughout each year. Event volunteers also help with check-in and registration, prize distribution, game organization, activities, and clean-up.

CASA   CASA -- Court Appointed Special Advocates -- provides trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who come to the attention of the court primarily as a result of abuse or neglect.

These children find themselves in foster care or temporary situations, often bouncing from home to home to home. Juvenile Courts must make critical decisions about these vulnerable children's lives, often with a disturbing shortage of facts.

CCSI exists to create a community where families become motivated and empowered to reach independent and autonomous lives through the assistance of caring human beings.

The uniqueness is the adult program's mentoring element. Each mentor's aim is to nurture the mentee to self-sufficiency. The mentees and mentors meet once a week at either Woodmont Hills or Schrader Lane meeting facilities to fellowship as a family and then to focus on daily living workshop material while the children attend tutoring sessions in neighboring classrooms.

Christian Women's Job Corps   CWJC of Middle Tennessee provides the potential for transformation of body, mind, heart and spirit of the working poor and the volunteers who serve them.

The purpose of Christian Women’s Job Corps is to equip women for life and employment with basic life skills necessary for self-sufficiency, within her culture, which may include: sustained employment; adequate income; housing; transportation; child care; and/or medical care. CWJC provides a loving environment where self-image can be restored and a place where women can develop life skills, set personal, educational and career goals and discover a realistic plan for accomplishing them. CWJC of Middle Tennessee does this by offering women in need "A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out."

The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort immediately responds to any major disaster in the continental United States by sending truckloads of emergency food, water, cleaning, and other supplies to disaster victims.

We need volunteers for sorting and pre-packing relief supplies in the warehouse AND load trucks at select times for disaster victims.
