Haiti
Summer 2013

Haiti is the smaller Western most portion of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola; it shares this island with the Dominican Republic. Haiti is also the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Its capital, Port-au-Prince, in the south of the country, is also its largest city. Historically, Haiti has had political turmoil, but there has been recently been an election in which the popular candidate took office and the country is on the road to peace. The UN has begun an extensive program to bring in millions of dollars of aid to help Haiti regain economic security. The mission team will be based at a preacher's training school in Cap-Haitien. During the ten day trip, the team will work with local churches to reach the hearts of people in the community through small group Bible studies for men and women while also working with children at the Cap-Haitien Children's Home.
