DLMS Fifth Grade
In the fifth grade, activities are designed to fulfill the Lipscomb’s mission. The school’s mission is to serve students so that they may master knowledge and skills appropriate to them and become Christ-like in attitude and behavior.
Our five teachers work together to introduce fifth graders to the middle school experience. We work closely to plan many enrichment activities. These include our a World War II Thematic Unit, Contract Learning, plays, and presentations.
Students are involved in several service projects including collecting Boxtops for Education, soft drink can tabs, and supplies for care packages for the Room in the Inn program. The money collected from the Boxtops program is donated to the Por Los Niños Children’s Homes in Honduras while the can tabs go the Ronald McDonald House here in Nashville.
Near the end of the year, the classes travel to Nature’s Classroom in Mentone, Alabama, for a 3-day, 2-night trip. There the students learn in a natural setting through hikes, activities, and classes. This is always a memory-making trip for the students.
In addition, our students have many after-school opportunities including chorus, a fifth and sixth grade play, and enrichment classes.
We hope to provide every fifth grader with the opportunity to learn and grow in a loving, Christian environment.
